Erasmus in Warsaw “The Finnish evening”

Posted by: sblmasta  /  Category: erasmus

When you are studying abroad, there are always lots of opportunities to discover new things and make new friends. When you are hanging out with some international friends, you have always something new to do. For instance, going to a pub during the evening to discover a new country. This is the case with the “Finnish evening”.

A girl from an European association was giving a “meeting” to present her native country, Finland. From A to Z, everything was made to discover it. There was plenty of food made by her and her colleagues (vegetarians food mostly), nice kind of tea, and plenty of little paper showing us some magic of the country. For example, did you know that Nokia (the famous phone company) was making rubber boots before phones? Or do you know the exact address of Santa Claus? No? Then you should come around! It sounds like nothing but this is why Erasmus evening are so incredible, because even if you don’t want/expect it, you learn things. It can be about culture, religion, food or whatever. And even if you don’t learn something, you’ll for sure have good fun with friends and meet new people.

Between two slides of the presentation, you can even learn a few words of this complicated language (maybe knowing “Hello” or “thank you” may help you one day in the future…). You don’t fancy speaking this hard language? Want more action? Then try to learn a famous dance in Finland, beware of the rhythm!

When everybody got lot of fun and feel a bit tired, it still time to enjoy a last cup of tea, and say good bye to (new) friends. It’s time as well to share plans for the future and compare notebook to be sure to meet soon in some other great international evening!

It was another adventure in the Warsaw Erasmus Community! See you in town for the next one!
